Several physicians and the AMC/NOMA lobbyist met with the new Director of the Ohio Department of Insurance in late February. Topics discussed with Director Ann Womer Benjamin included reduction in premiums, and the fact that A.M. Best had just downgraded OHIC to B++. Other points of discussion included a Joint Underwriting Association and the report on the feasibility of an Ohio Patients Compensation Fund. A complete copy of the preliminary report regarding the feasibility of establishing an Ohio Patients Compensation fund was provided to the AMC/NOMA. A complete report on this meeting will be published in the next issue of the AMC/NOMA publication The Cleveland Physician. If you would like a copy of the ODI preliminary report contact the AMC/NOMA.
