HHS:  National Critical Shortage of Blood

January is National Volunteer Blood Donor Month and a time to encourage and raise the awareness of how important blood donations are.  The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has recognized that America's blood banks are currently facing a critical shortage of blood.  Many parts of the country have only a two-day supply.  HHS has issued a challenge to all Americans to donate blood in order to increase the country's supplies and be adequately prepared for any large-scale or personal emergencies our country may face.
