The American Association of Health Plans and the Health Insurance Association of America, the two largest trade groups for health insurance companies, have reached a tentative agreement to merge.
The two Washington-based organizations said Monday that their respective boards of directors approved the consolidation late last week. Membership must still vote to consummate the deal, though AAHP spokesperson Susan Pisano says approval is likely.
