Ohio Fire Service and EMS Personnel Alerted to Operation LIBERTY SHIELD

     The State of Ohio Security Task Force, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has notified Ohio Fire and EMS personnel to be in communication with local law enforcement an the Directors of County EMA’s in regard to Operation Liberty Shield.

     Operation LIBERTY SHIELD is a comprehensive national plan designed to increase protection for America’s citizens and infrastructure while maintaining the free flow of goods and people across the borders with minimal disruption to our economy and way of life.  It is a multi-department, multi-agency, nation team effort and includes: increased security at borders, stronger transportation protections, ongoing measures to disrupt threats against the nation, great protections for critical infrastructure and key assets, increased public health preparedness, and Federal and State response resources positioned and ready.

     Areas asked to be alerted include: public water systems, chemical facilities, major public utilities, transmission facilities (electric and gas), petroleum storage facilities, mass transit capabilities and transportation infrastructures, such as roads and bridges.
