Medicaid fees across the nation are on the rise while cut backs on prescription drugs and dental care are increasing co-payments. Many states have already cut spending or plan to cut spending this year on Medicaid. Medicaid spending in Ohio sees a growth rate of nearly 8% a year.
In a recent survey conducted by the Kaiser Commission on
Medicaid and the Uninsured, forty-five of fifty states plan tighter controls on payments
for prescription drugs, 37 plan to reduce or freeze payments to doctors and hospitals, 27
plan to restrict eligibility for the program, 25 plan to cut benefits, such as dental or
vision care and 17 plan to increase co-payments required of beneficiaries.
