U.S. House passes HEALTH Act
The United States House recently passed bill H.R. 4600, the
HEALTH Act, by a vote of 217 to 203. All of Ohio's Republican members voted for the
bill and all Democrats against. The bill would safeguard patients' access to care
and provide a $250,000 cap on noneconomic damages and set a reasonable limit on punitive
damages with preempting existing state law. The AMC/NOMA support HR 4600 as well as
SB 281 - the medical liability reform bill currently under review in the State of Ohio.
