AAFP, MinuteClinic Agree on Standardized Records

MinuteClinic and the American Academy of Family Physicians have agreed to use standardized and secure personal health records that follow the Continuity of Care Record standards between retail clinic sites and physician practices. The standards will be implemented to ensure that MinuteClinic patients will have “portable, reliable and interoperable” PHRs. The PHRs will be tested in physician offices and MinuteClinics nationwide. Patients and physicians who do not have electronic health records but who have Internet access will also be able to view the information. The health data that CCR standards allow to be transmitted include: Allergies, Diagnoses, Immunizations, Lab results, Medications and Vital Signs.
