ACTION ALERT: Physicians Make Calls to Stop Medicare Payment Cuts

If Congress doesn’t act by December 31, Medicare’s flawed sustainable growth rate formula will generate billions of dollars in cuts to physicians beginning January 1, 2006, with a certain disastrous effect on patient access to care. The AMC/NOMA has diligently worked for months toward resolution of this issue, including letter-writing campaigns, a direct communication to CMS from the association President, and continuous updates and tracking of the debates in Congress on the matter to our members. AMC/NOMA members are encouraged to keep pressure on Congress about the impending cuts. Sample letters to Congress are posted on our web site for your use. Or you may want to contact your Congressional representative via phone. If so, you may call the AMA Grassroots Hotline at (800) 833-6354 to be connected with your representative and senators. Voice your concerns NOW regarding the Un-Sustainable Growth Rate—it cannot be fixed, it must be replaced!
