A U.S. Federal Court on Oct. 24 approved an agreement between Aetna and representatives of nearly 1 million physicians. By agreeing to the settlement, Aetna has acknowledged that, to mend the breach in its working relationship with physicians, it must implement a fundamental shift in how the company conducts business.
"The settlement initiates meaningful and necessary improvements that represent a positive change in how an industry-leading health insurer does business with physicians," said AMA President Donald J. Palmisano, MD.
