AMC/NOMA Hosts Seminar On Saving Medicine & Protecting Patients In
Northern Ohio
"Saving Northern Ohio Medicine & Protecting Patients" sponsored
by the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland/Northern Ohio Medical Association (AMC/NOMA)
will be a seminar open to everyone interested in health care - physicians,
medical office staff, family, patients, hospital executives and staff. This
seminar is being planned for early 2004 - speakers are being lined up now for
this important event. Watch for information on the AMC/NOMA web site and in
mailers to physicians across Northern Ohio.
The objectives of the seminar are to review:
- The effects of professional liability insurance on physician distribution.
- Legislative updates - Update on local/statewide legislative efforts on
medical liability and the significance of the 2004 Ohio Supreme Court race.
- Insurance representatives - overview of current companies writing
insurance, rate forecasts - perspective on Ohio medical liability insurance
market/climate
- Elements of a medical justice system
- Federal legislators - discussion regarding federal legislative initiatives
and regulatory issues.
- Legal representatives - Why patients sue - and discussion of a Medical
Justice system
- Lobbyist/Pollster - How to get your legislative message across to
the right people.
- Patient safety issues and the medical liability system
The cost for the seminar will be set at a nominal fee without requests for
additional contributions. CME accreditation may be available.
