Flush from successful passage of the Medicare bill that he endorsed, President Bush on Tuesday renewed his call for the Senate to pass a malpractice reform bill.
"There needs to be a $250,000 cap on noneconomic damages," Bush said in remarks at Spring Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, according to a transcript from the White House. "The House of Representatives responded in a positive way, and I want to thank the members here for voting the right way. The bill is stuck in the Senate." Bush added: "We need medical liability reform now. And the members of the Senate must understand, this is a compelling national issue, and I will keep it on the front burner until we get the problem solved."
