A Canadian study found that people who received weekly e-mail reminders to eat healthy and be active were more likely to exercise and lose weight than those who did not receive the reminders. Researchers at the University of Alberta sent weekly e-mail reminders to volunteers at five Canadian companies. During the 12-week study, those who received the healthy habit e-mails exercised more, knew more about health benefits and reduced their body mass indexes, as reported in the American Journal of Health Promotion. Those who did not receive the weekly e-mail reminders gained weight over the three-month period.
