CCHIT announces first inpatient EHR certifications

The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology released the names of six in-patient electronic health-record products that fully meet CCHIT's 2007 certification criteria. Representing the first in-patient products that have passed CCHIT inspection, the six EHRs are specifically used for computerized physician-order entry, or CPOE, and an electronic medication administration record, or eMAR. Four of the products—CPSI System Version 15 from Computer Programs and Systems; Sunrise Acute Care 4.5 SP4 from Eclipsys Corp.; Epic Systems Corp.'s EpicCare Inpatient Spring 2007 version; and Healthcare Management Systems version 7.0 from Healthcare Management Systems—are on the market. Two other products were chosen under a pre-market condition that their operational use in a hospital be verified before full certification is granted. Those products are ChartAccess 1.0 from Prognosis Health Information Systems and Soarian Clinicals 2.0C5 with Siemens Pharmacy and Medication Administration Check 24.0 from Siemens Medical Solutions USA.
