The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recently posted training modules aimed at health care officials who might be in the position for dealing with a bio-agent terrorist attack. On the site, the CDC says, "Dealing with a terrorist attack using bio-agents is complicated by the fact that the diseases they cause also occur naturally, and in many ways, are infrequently seen." The modules arm you and staff members with knowledge necessary to diagnose and manage these illnesses, in coordination with local public health departments. Upon completion of a module, the CDC feels you will be better prepared to minimize the impact of a bio-terrorist event. The only training module available right now pertains to the Plague. Future modules will pertain to: Anthrax, Botulism, Smallpox, Tularemia and Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers. Visit http://www.bt.cdc.gov/training/agentmodules/biological/ for more information.
