As a result of the closing of Deaconess Hospital and situation with St. Michael`s, the CECOMS Override Policy needs to be changed. Chief Peter Nelson Chairman of the EMS Advisory Board, Dr. Thomas Graber Chairman of the Medical Standards Committee and Commissioner Ed Eckart Cleveland EMS were consulted regarding the revisions. At this point Deaconess is closed and we have been verbally informed that St. Michael`s will cease to receive EMS units and no longer participate in the restriction/override program effective 11:00pm December 19, 2003. As a result the Override Policy will be changed as follows:
1. Effective 8:00am Friday December 12, 2003 Lutheran Hospital will be changed to a "B" hospital. Therefore, in the Central West Region, St. Vicent Charity will be the "A" hospital, Lutheran will be the "B" hospital and MetroHealth will be the "C" hospital.
2. Effective 11:00pm December 19, 2003 St. Michael`s hospital will be removed. Therefore, in the Central East Region, University Hospital will be the "A" hospital, Cleveland Clinic will be the "B" hospital and Huron Hospital will be the "C" hospital.
The CECOMS website is being changed accordingly. Also the EMS Board will be meeting in January to evaluate the Override Policy and these revisions.
