The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released an educational paper on the risk analysis and management of the HIPAA security rule. It is the sixth of seven educational papers released by CMS to explain specific requirements of the rule from its enforcers, the thought process behind the new requirements and ways to address the provisions. The new paper addresses implementation specifications, risk analysis and management concepts and ways to conduct assessments. The previously released papers covered a rule overview, safeguards and documentation requirements.
