Congress Fails to Avert Medicare Payment Cut

As federal lawmakers begin the fall recess this weekend, physicians who care for Medicare patients still face a payment cut of 5.1 percent due to commence Jan. 1, 2007. Hope remains that the upcoming lame duck session of Congress in November may still bring about a stop to the payment cut scheduled under the sustainable growth rate, and even a positive update for all physicians. The AMC/NOMA has diligently worked and advocated for this important issue, through letter writing campaigns and many member emails to Congressional representatives in support of their action on the Medicare cuts. We will keep our membership apprised of developments as they occur in the coming months. Click Stop Medicare Cuts link to add your voice to the fight.
