Shuts Down Dr. John Jones, a Dallas-area radiologist created a database, DoctorsKnow.Us, that listed patients who have sued for frivolous lawsuits. On the list there are fewer than 100,000 patient names listed who have sued doctors for malpractice. An objection to it is that it doesn't provide the outcome of a suit or whether or not it had merit. Last week a consumer rights group called on the Texas Medical Association to denounce the online database. Dr. John Jones, a Dallas-area radiologist who launched the database last November, voluntarily shut down the DoctorsKnow.Us site in response to the controversy. In most cases, the site did not provide the outcome of a suit or whether it had merit, Jones said. The database, which had about 50 members and fewer than 100,000 patient names, charged a monthly access fee of $4.95. The site allowed members to search up to 250 names per month (Associated Press, 3/11).
