The Government Accountability Office released a 92 page report this week detailing the progress made to date by the HHS in its task of implementing a nationwide, interoperable, Internet accessible strategic health information plan, as set forth by the Bush administration. The report also identifies lessons learned from the Departments of Defense and Veteran's Affairs in their instituting electronic health records, as well as review of select international examples wherein health care IT infrastructure initiatives have been successful i.e. Canada, Denmark, New Zealand and the UK.
