The AMC/NOMA’s annual seminar, scheduled for Feb. 17 at the Embassy Suites in Independence, will feature renowned national speakers and address issues of great importance to physicians and the patients they serve. The 2006 program, titled, “Riding the Wave of Change in the Practice of Medicine,” will cover a range of issues from Health Information Technology and Quality Improvement measures, to Electronic Health Records and Pay-for-Performance initiatives. Attendees can expect to come away with a greater understanding of such matters as why practice-based EHRs are essential in quality measurement and improvement, why information technology is a key enabler of such improvement and how proposed Medicare payment programs will expand and change in the coming years. During the luncheon hour, AMC/NOMA lobbyists Mike Wise and Michael Caputo will provide an update of recent legislative and regulatory initiatives affecting the practice of medicine in Ohio and offer proactive ways to work toward legislative reform in the state. The event will be jointly sponsored by the AMC/NOMA, The Academy of Medicine Education Foundation (AMEF) and St. Vincent Charity Hospital, which designates this educational activity for a maximum of 5.0 CME credits for physicians.
