Health Department Sends Advisory on Smoking Ban

Last week, the Ohio Department of Health sent letters to 280,000 Ohio businesses notifying them of the general provision of the recently passed statewide smoking ban. The agency plans to adopt rules by June 7, the letter stated. “Until then, businesses and organizations are required to comply with the statutes.” The letter also included new phone numbers to report violations and to obtain information. Of course, The Academy of Medicine of Cleveland & Northern Ohio has been a strong proponent of the statewide smoking ban since its introduction to voters in 2005, participating in news conferences and partnering with local organizations with the goal of improving the health of our Ohio communities.
