| Employer-sponsored health insurance premiums increased by an average of 6.1 percent in 2007, less than the increase in 2006 but more than the 3.7 percent increase in employee wages and more than twice the annual inflation rate in July of 2.4 percent, according to an annual survey released by the Kaiser Family Foundation. According to the survey of nearly 2,000 employers, the average cost of a family plan purchased by employers in 2007 hit a new high of $12,106, and individual coverage premiums averaged $4,479.
