Increase in Vaccine Prices

Beginning in February, Sanofi Pasteur raised prices for 11 vaccines, and Merck raised prices for four vaccines.

Here in Ohio insurers have or plan to adjust to the increase in prices in the following manner:

UnitedHealthcare began their Average Wholesale Price (AWP) increases effective in UHC’s pricing schedule on April 1, 2009. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield AWP increases for Sanofi vaccines began in February 2009 and for Merck vaccines in March 2009. Medical Mutual of Ohio will begin their AWP increases on July 1, 2009.
