Medicaid: Ohio Delays Code Update

Ohio Medicaid will be adding new CPT and HCPCS codes later in 2003 rather than January 1st. The department will be working to make code sets and transactions required under HIPAA a smooth transaction. Medicaid will notify providers of the date when the new codes will become effective. Renaissance Health Plan to Liquidate Renaissance Health Plan, a Cleveland-based HMO, has been placed into liquidation by the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas. The Ohio Department of Insurance placed Renaissance into rehabilitation on August 22, and had announced a plan to follow the organization to liquidation after a short transition period. Formerly known as Emerald HMO, Renaissance was one of seven health maintenance organizations serving Medicaid patients across Ohio including, Cuyahoga, Lorain and Summit counties.
