Medicare Cuts Postponed until April 1 |

Last night, the U.S. Senate voted 78-19 to pass H.R. 4691, the “Temporary
Extension Act of 2010” and stave off Medicare cuts to physicians for another
month, postponing the 21 percent payment cut until April 1. The Senate should
use this time to permanently repeal the flawed Medicare physician sustainable
growth rate (SGR) payment formula that puts access to care for seniors and
military families at risk. The U.S. House has already passed legislation that
will permanently repeal the broken payment formula and replace it with one that
better reflects the increasing cost of patient care. Now the Senate must act. The AMCNO is urging all physicians in Northern Ohio to call Ohio Senators Brown and Voinovich and tell them to act now to permanently repeal the sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula. Sen. Sherrod Brown – (202) 224-2315 Sen. George Voinovich – (202) 224-3353 The AMCNO will continue to provide you with updates on this issue of critical importance to your practice. |
