Medical Mutual of Ohio announced changes in the appeal request process. If reimbursement is denied for services, either pre-service or post-service, the provider or covered person may request one appeal of the denial after an initial review. Providers will only have 180 days to appeal, rather than twelve months. MMO has also shifted to a one-level appeal process for both providers and covered persons. These changes will become effective as of January 1, 2003.
