Ohio Legislature Adjourns for the Year |

The Ohio Senate closed the books Monday with a sine die adjournment during a non-voting session. The Ohio House is expected to adjourn sine die on Wednesday, officially ending the 128th General Assembly. As previously noted, this means that the AMCNO physician ranking legislation along with all other legislation pending in the Ohio legislature will die and will have to be reintroduced in 2011. The AMCNO legislative committee will begin reviewing health care related legislation as soon as it is reintroduced. In particular the AMCNO is interested in pursuing the physician ranking legislation in the 129th General Assembly along with legislation to extend liability protection given to physicians providing emergency care under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) mandate – legislation which was strongly supported by the AMCNO last year. The AMCNO also plans to follow the debate with regard to the hospital franchise fee and other key issues. Watch for updates in emails and our magazine. |
