Rumors over Contaminated Influenza Vaccine Untrue

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued a joint statement about an alleged FDA recall of a contaminated influenza vaccine supply. No such contamination or recall has occurred anywhere in the United States. Influenza vaccine must meet safety, purity and potency standards prior to release. Each year, 36,000 people die from influenza - vaccination is the best defense against the virus. October and November are the best months to get vaccinated, but doing so in the months that follow still offers considerable protection.
