AMC/NOMA FORMS STRATEGIC MEMBERSHIP ALIGNMENT WITH SUMMIT COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY
Congratulations to the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland/Northern Ohio Medical Association (AMC/NOMA) and Summit County Medical Society (SCMS). The physician leadership from both societies have completed and signed a strategic alignment agreement with the encouragement and approval of their respective officers and council/board. The agreement allows for members of the Summit County Medical Society to become medical advocacy group members of the AMC/NOMA while both societies remain autonomous and provide their local services and benefits to their respective individual members.
This is an extremely important opportunity for organized medicine and physicians in Northeastern Ohio. For their group advocacy membership, SCMS members will receive legislative representation and gain exposure to and a voice in legislative matters at the state level through the AMC/NOMA. SCMS will also be represented at the AMC/NOMA board and legislative committee levels. The purpose of the alignment is to strengthen legislative representation, advocacy education and member legislative services in the most effective manner. The alignment is beneficial to both organizations and their members since it will serve to increase the visibility of all the physicians in Northeastern Ohio.
The agreement with SCMS is contingent upon the entire membership of SCMS becoming medical group advocacy members of the AMC/NOMA. Every SCMS member becomes an AMC/NOMA medical society/association advocacy group member. AMC/NOMA and SCMS will continue to operate as separate societies with their own respective bylaws. The AMC/NOMA medical group advocacy members from SCMS receive no other benefits or services other than access to our legislative services through the AMC/NOMA staff and leadership. In addition, having all of the SCMS members join the AMC/NOMA as medical group advocacy members increases our numbers and provides us with the ability to represent nearly 3,000 physicians at the Statehouse.
Physicians in Northeastern Ohio deserve to have their voices heard regarding issues that are of importance to our practice and our patients. This alignment between the SCMS and the AMC/NOMA is a new beginning for organized medicine in this region. If you are already an AMC/NOMA member congratulations you are already involved stay involved. If you are not an AMC/NOMA member - join us today to become part of our regional initiative.
