Tracking Payer Information Technology

According to a recent report published by the National Business Coalition on Health (NBCH), 64% of payers offer personal health records for their members. However, the majority of payers do not always include pertinent claims data in the records. NBCH compared health plans’ performance to the Department of Health and Human Services’ Four Cornerstones of Value-Driven Health Care Initiative. More than 400 PPOs and 200 HMOs were surveyed. Roughly 30% of health plans actually publish data on the quality of care given by hospitals for specific medical conditions, but a mere 6% of insurers have similar data about physicians.
