According to the Associated Press, special legislative sessions earlier this month in Wyoming has led to three bills being signed by Gov. Dave Fredenthal. The bills deal with the rising cost of medical malpractice insurance being paid by doctors. The first bill authorizes up to six additional medical student at the U of Washington, the second authorizes an array of studies pertaining to the state's healthcare issues including: a medical errors reporting systems, a self insurance pool for docs and distributing docs around the state. The third bill offers $13 million in low-interest state loans to assist doctors pay for their medical malpractice insurance.
