AMC/NOMA State Lobbyist

McDonald, Hopkins, Burke and Haber

The Academy of Medicine/Northern Ohio Medical Association is pleased to retain McDonald, Hopkins, Burke and Haber, with offices in Cleveland and Columbus, to represent the organization at the statehouse as well as the local level. The increasing complexity of government, coupled with the reality of legislative turnover and the subsequent shifts in policy initiatives, requires a renewed commitment toward navigating through the governmental process.

Mr. Michael Wise and Mr. Michael Caputo, our lobbying representatives, assist our organization to interface strategically and effectively with legislators.

Mr. Wise, a practicing attorney, is the Chair of the Government Practice Group at McDonald, Hopkins Burke and Haber. Prior to joining MHBH, Mike was the Director of Governor Taft’s Regional Economic Development Office in Cleveland, where he was the senior liaison between the Cleveland business community and the Governor. Mike is also a former member of the Ohio General Assembly. Mike’s broad legislative experience and relationships with legislators will be of great assistance to the AMC/NOMA.

Mr. Caputo, a non-attorney, works with companies and other entities to develop policies with governmental bodies to further their interests. Prior to joining MHBH, Mike was a senior policy analyst for the Ohio Senate Majority Caucus. He has also worked for Governor Taft’s administration as Deputy District Director for the Cleveland office. He has also been involved in numerous campaigns at the federal, state and local level. His knowledge of working legislation through the General Assembly, combined with his experience in the campaign world gives Mike the unique knowledge of ushering through politically sensitive issues without bypassing the necessary channels of communication throughout the legislature.

This lobbying partnership with Messrs. Wise and Caputo provides the AMC/NOMA with the ability to utilize the expertise and experience of the healthcare attorneys at MHBH.
